Wanted: Superstar Intern

Superstar!

The time has come.

I'm officially looking for a superstar intern (yinztern?!) to join me in taking Yinzpiration to the next level.

This October is Yinzpiration's second blogoversary (hooray!) and it's time we kick this project into high-gear, don't you think?

But I can't do it alone.

I'm looking for a superstar to join this one-woman show. Could it be you? Your brother? Your cousin? Your best friend?

Read on and find out.

This position is for you if:

You rock at writing, grammar, spelling, and editing. You are a formatting wizard and love to make blog posts look pretty and consistent. You frequent thesaurus.com and have fun with language.

You take initiative and follow through like a champion. You keep projects moving and problem solving comes naturally to you.

You are detail oriented and schedule focused. You do not mind "hounding" down individuals to complete projects. You don't drop the ball.

You love connecting with young leaders and dreamers in Pittsburgh.

You love planning events just as much as you love attending them. You are willing to help round up a host committee and volunteers for a kick-ass party that the people of Pittsburgh deserve!

You are interested in making connections with Pittsburgh venues, potential sponsors, businesses, and organizations.

You love social media: especially Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

You've got a positive personality and spunk—you are not afraid to make suggestions when you see opportunities for improvement.

You are organized and keep good notes/records.

You are willing to commit to working with me for one year (dedicating about five hours per week) and checking in for about a 1/2 hour via Skype or Google Hang-Out once a week.

You are honest.

You want to see Yinzpiration thrive, grow, and evolve. You are flexible and open to change.

You rock the oxford comma.

You live in Pittsburgh and you LOVE this town!

Bonus points if you:

You have experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and the Adobe Creative Suite.

You are comfortable writing HTML.

Have experience with Mailchimp and using Drupal CMS.

Have event planning experience with industry contacts.

Have blogging experience.

This internship is not for you if:

You are over committed and don't have time to devote to this project.

You plan on moving away from Pittsburgh in the near future.

You are shy and don't like emailing/calling people that you have never met before.

You consider yourself more of a big picture dreamer rather than a focused, detail driven worker.

You get excited about starting projects but you don't complete them.

You gossip/have personal drama. You make excuses and pass blame. You complain in person and on social media.

You get stuck if one attempt to fix a problem doesn't work.

You are not willing to try things that are outside of your comfort zone.

You don't use spell check.

You do not have a computer/internet access.

Perks of the job:

Your network will expand exponentially.

I will do my best to teach you what I know about blogging, making meaningful connections, living yinzpired, marketing, branding, and anything else I can help you with.

If you follow through on these expectations, I will sing your praises from the top of Mt. Washington ... and blog about you, and write you recommendations, and be your cheerleader for as long as we both shall live.

How to apply (read carefully):

1. Send me an email (or use my handy contact form) and tell me why you want to join team Yinzpiration and how you think you could help this project. Bonus points if you explain this to me in a video (keep it three minutes or less, please).

2. Include at least three references (a mix of personal and professional). If you are making a video, be sure to email these along with a link to your video.

I'll be accepting applications until 5:00 pm Friday, November 2nd 2012. We'll start working mid-November.

As much as I wish I could offer a million dollar salary, at this point this position is unpaid.

Thanks so much for reading and considering!

Peace and Love,

Kate
